James Barlow

GEORGETOWN - James "Jim" L. Barlow Sr., 87, husband of Sue Glass Barlow, went to be with the Lord May 19, 2013. Jim was born February 26, 1926 to John H. and Grace Lancaster Barlow. He was a native of Georgetown KY, graduate of University of KY (1950). He resided in Lexington for 52 years before returning to Georgetown. He had an interest in several building and developing companies before founding Barlow Homes. He chaired the Fayette County Board of Education during his 20 years of service. He was a director of the Chamber of Commerce and served as treasurer. In 1963 he was President of the UK Quarterback Club. He served twice as President of the Lexington Homebuilders Association and Director for the State Association. He served on various community boards over the years. In his retirement he was a Board Trustee for Georgetown College. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Anne Douglass Barlow and his brother Charles T. Barlow. He has four children: James L. Barlow Jr., Ann K. Barlow, Katherine B. Ecton (Walt), John D. Barlow (Julie). Sue gave him 20 years of happiness and shared her three children: Tom Neclerio (Aley), Susan Bane Grove (Steve), Natasha N. Ulack (Chris) with him. Together they have 20 grandchildren. He is survived by his twin brother John R. Barlow (Joy) and sister-in-law Gwen Barlow. Jim always found and accentuated the best in everyone who met or dealt with him. Pallbearers will be his 10 grandsons. Visitation will be Friday 5-8 at Tucker, Yocum and Wilson Funeral Home. The service will be Saturday, 10 am at John L. Hill Chapel, Georgetown College.
