John Schroering Obituary

John B. "Johnny" Schroering, III
March 27, 1959 - September 30, 2022
Lexington, Kentucky - Beloved husband, son, brother, and friend, John B. Schroering, III "Johnny", left his earthly body on Friday, September 30, 2022, at his home in Lexington, Kentucky. Johnny was born on March 27, 1959, in Pensacola, Florida, and graduated from Trinity High School and the University of Kentucky. Johnny is survived by his wife and the love of his life, Teresa Corman. He is also survived by his mother, Anna Marshall, father John Schroering; stepmother, Susan Schroering; sister Amanda Nall (Chris); brothers, Steve (Lori), Jeff (Raenell), and Derek (Shannon); stepdaughters, Paige Harris (Neal) and Lindsey Harris (Jackie); Stepson, Caleb Harris (McKenna); grandson, Grayson; as well as a multitude of loving nieces and nephews. Johnny worked as a sports camera operator and independent broadcast media professional with KET in Lexington for over twenty-five years. During his time at KET, Johnny also produced various television shows, including the "Our Town" and "Kentucky Life" series, as well as the documentary "Flaget High School: The Great Spirit Lives on." Johnny enjoyed everything life offered, including traveling, fishing, dancing, singing, playing with his dogs, and riding his motorcycle. More than anything, however, Johnny enjoyed people – being with them, laughing with them, and loving them. Johnny never met a stranger and was always the first with a smile, a joke, and a hug. His charisma, compassion, humor, and sincerity attracted everyone he encountered.
While Johnny faced some difficult times in his life, he used those experiences – as well as his strength and perseverance – to help countless others. Johnny's mantra in life was simple but true: "Do the next right thing." Most of all, Johnny cherished his wife, his family, and his immense circle of friends, all of whom will miss him so very much. His faith and relationship with God throughout his illness brought him immense comfort and peace. While we wish he could have stayed with us longer, we are eternally grateful for the time given to us with him. He was a gift to us all and will live on in the hearts and lives of the many people he touched until the end of time. A celebration of his life will be held in Lexington at the Tates Creek Ball Room, 1400 Gainesway Dr., on Friday, October 21, 2022 from 5:30 to 8:30 PM and in Louisville on Monday, October 24, 2022 at the Masonic Homes, 104 Masonic Home Dr. (the Meadows), from 5:00 to 7:30 PM. Donations in lieu of flowers, can be made to the Lexington Humane Society.

John was a wonderful friend to our family. I loved it when he moved into my neighborhood. l was delighted when I got to greet him, Teresa, and their dogs. I also loved it when I got to see both of them on their wedding day -- John looking so happy and Teresa radiant in her wedding gown! I miss John so much and treasure the times I get to see Teresa.

I received a call from my ex-husband, Cary Pendleton, this morning letting me know that his father had passed. During our conversation, he told me that John had passed away last month. I was 18 when I met John. He and Cary were roommates. For a short time, he dated Cary's sister Debbie. I remember John as funny, fun-loving but respectful (unless you stocked up on beer Saturday because you couldn't buy it on Sunday and he wanted a beer :) ). The last time I saw John was just before Cary moved out of their apartment nearly 39 years ago now. So I never knew about the wonderful man he became. I am hoping this snippet of memory brings you a laugh. All my best to John's family. Sherry
