Josh was an awesome guy. I wasn't very close to him, but during the time I did spend with him in high school he left quite an impression. He portrayed the image of a caring, bright, full of integrity and tenacious young man. I pray that God will bring peace and hope to his family.

I did not have the chance to get to know personally Josh. But from what I have been told from friends that knew him he was the kind of friend everyone needed in their lives. I am greatly sorry for your loss and will keep your family in my prayers. Just know that each and every day Josh is watching down from above and one day again you will meet.

We are so sorry for your loss. Josh was a fine young man and will be missed by many. Our entire family was out of town this week so we missed the viewing.

This is a favor verse of mine:

I shall not stand at your grave and weep;

I know you're not there, you're not asleep.

You're the soft summer breezes that blow;

The diamond glitter on the freshly fallen snow.

You're the gentle Autumn's rain;

The warm sun on my window pane.

When I awaken in the morning's hush,

You're the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight;

You're the first star that shines at night.

I shall not stand at your grave and cry;

Because I know you're not there, You did not die.

I mostly remember Josh from my son's baseball days. Since Sunday morning though, I've seen how special he was. My house has been filled with many of his classmates and friends with their pained expressions, tears, and yes, frustrations over such an untimely loss. Mark and family,,,,know how much Josh was admired and respected. He had more admiration and friends than most of us have in a lifetime. I can say nothing now to quell the pain you are feeling. No one knows how you feel,,,sadness,anger,frustration and helplessness most likely are some of the emotions you are experiencing. Try to take some comfort in knowing he made quite a positive impression on his peers. Tyler and I express our sincerest condolences.

I first met Josh when I was in the 4th grade at St. Leo's when I first saw him I fell in love with his beautiful brown eyes but most of all I fell in love with him, ever since that moment I've had a crush on him. Over the years Josh and I grew closer and closer being around my brother Jake so much he statred to call my "Sissy" just like Jake, it made me feel special knowing that Josh looked at me more than a friend but as a sister that he could come and talk to, or just recieve a big hug. Sittig here right now hurts so bad, looking at all the pictures we have together, knowing that they're all memories and that there will be no more pictures taken and... there will be no more long, tight hugs, at least not for a while.

I have so many great memories with Josh that it would take a life time to tell, but the most recent memory was when me, my cousin Brittany and the PSC went up to Columbus for a Dave Matthews concert, standing with hundreds of people I'd find myself always looking back at Josh, and he'd look back squint his eyes nodd his head and smile. Life was good then standing with my cousin, my brother and well all my other brothers listening to our favorite band in the world, it was the time of our lives.

Josh-I love you so much, I've loved you since the day i met you, you will forever be in my heart, we'll meet again someday with open arms. But, now it's your turn.. your turn to walk hand in hand with our Lord and Savior, your safe..

You'll always be my Joshy, we'll be together again someday but until then watch over us..

Love, Sissy...

To the family of Josh,

May the Lord provide you with comfort during this tragic loss of Josh.

He and our daughter Brittany, went to St. Leo's together, and Josh was her first "boyfriend" in grade school. They remained friends after we moved when Jake, Erin, Josh and friends were together. She was so happy to see him on graduation night, as she was working at Applebee's when here this handsome fellow came in after the ceremonies.

She had told me of their recent trip to Columbus for the concert just a couple of weeks ago, and was laughing that when they all got back to Jake's grandparents to spend the night, the next morning Brittany and Erinn went to wake up the others for Breakfast, they found the guys in the basement, etc. and then opened the door to one bedroom to find Josh sound asleep, in a bedroom all decorated in pink. It was their laughing episode for the weekend. As she told me this, tears streamed down her face with grief over the loss of Josh. We are all grieving with you, and pray that God will give all family and friends strength to get them through and remember the wonderful times shared with Josh throughout his life.

To the Rice family and friends,

I was Josh's recruiter. I want to send my deepest sympathy for you all. I only knew Josh for a couple of months, but can tell you that he left such an impression with me, that I am sure I will never forget him. He showed me, that there are still young men and women out there that are willing to give so much and expect so little in return. My prayers will be forever with you...

His Uncle Ellie,

I met Josh for the first time this past Saturday night. His sense of humor and personable demeanor left a lasting impression on my mind. I was looking forward to pursuing a friendship with this wonderful person, only to find out the next morning that his life was cut short. My heart is aching and I only knew Josh a few hours, so I can only imagine how your family must feel. Just find comfort in knowing Josh is in a better place and your family is completely immersed in the thoughts and prayers of many.

For the Family of Josh Rice,

Our deepest sympathy and prayers be with you. Our son David Cox went to school with Josh and graduated with him in May. When I asked him if he knew Josh, he said "yeah, he's one of my friends. Why, did he call for me?" It hurt to tell him what happened. We lost Davids girlfriend Jenna Walling in an auto accident three months ago. It has been a long road of heartache. I will continue to pray for you and all who loved Josh. Hold tight to Gods loving hand. He will help you to plant your feet back on solid ground, and slowly begin to move forward. It will take time. I am so very sorry. The Bailey/Cox Family

I had the chance to meet Josh this past year, my first covering sports at WCHS. He was always so enthused about the Yankees, and we had a great time discussing them whenever I saw him. I was shocked and devastated to learn this morning that he had passed. My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Rice family in this time of grief. Josh was a great young man, and he will be missed.
