Lexington, Kentucky - Julianne "Julie" Barton Clough, 84, of Lexington, KY, formerly of Spring Valley, Xenia, Ohio passed away on Friday, December 6, 2025. She was the eldest child of the late Warren E. and Helen Luttrell Barton, born on March 26, 1941, in Xenia, OH. Julie graduated from Xenia High School in 1959. She worked for the federal government in Kettering at Gentile & DESC for eight years before moving to Kentucky and working at the Lexington Blue Grass Depot where she worked as a secretary to the Commanding Officers when she retired after 30 years. Julie received many civilian awards during her 30 years. She was also Honorable Kentucky Colonel. She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, sports, bunco, playing cards and visiting casinos.

Family was a very important part of her life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Mart Clough, Jr.; and her brother, James E. Barton. Julie is survived by a sister, Janie (Doug) Barton Jordan; brother John (Veda) H. Barton; nieces Gina Hassan, Tiffany Giehls, Angela McBee, Jennifer Hawk, Sheri Duckwall; nephews Robert Jordan, and James A. Barton; as well as several great nieces and nephews. When she married, Julie got a bonus family of 3 children, Mart (Barbara) Clough III, Deborah (Gary) Grunwald, and Nancy Clough; three grandsons, Mart Clough IIII, Joshua Clough, Gary Grunwald; three great grandchildren, Samuel, Lilli and River Clough.

Julie requested no services to be held, as well as no flowers. She only wanted you to check on your neighbor and give someone a hug. Thanks to family and friends who made the very last of her life comfortable, safe and fun. You know who you are.
