Lexington, Kentucky - Kenneth David Hurtak, 61, of Lexington, Kentucky passed away peacefully at home on April 4, 2025.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on October 30,1963 to Emil and Pat Hurtak. His sister, Karen, was born the following year and the family later moved to Miami Springs, Florida where Ken spent most of his childhood. He graduated from Miami Springs Senior High School where he met his future wife, Kristina Hertzman.

They married in 1983 and Ken went to school in the evenings to learn the HVAC trade. He tirelessly spent his professional life pursuing this work with excellence, unmatched skill, and integrity. Both at his workplace and after hours, he devoted his time and energy to keeping people cool and comfortable in the Florida heat. Ken later studied and earned a contractor's license and was very proud to start his own business, Bayshore Air Conditioning, while also working for Miami-Dade County at Miami International Airport.

During this time, Ken and Kris had four beautiful children, Savannah, Timothy, Joseph, and Jesse. Ken was a proud father who enjoyed watching his children grow. He looked forward to the times he could get away from the demands of his job to spend time with his family on day trips, excursions, and vacations.

The family attended Miami Shores Christian Church where Ken was an active member; being treasurer for many years, interim worship leader for a time, a deacon and later an elder.

Ken and Kris moved to Kentucky in 2006 and the family grew to include their children's spouses and 10 adorable grandchildren. He loved to see them filling the house for weekly meals, family get togethers, and holidays. He was the quiet, solid presence in the background and will be sorely missed by those who knew him best.

A memorial service will take place at Catalyst Christian Church, 101 N. 1st Street, Nicholasville, KY, on May 3, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. with a reception following at The Oaks, 205 W. Oak Street, Nicholasville, KY at 4:00 p.m. Flowers may be sent to the church, or donations may be made in his name at als.org.
