Layton Bosarge Obituary

Layton Louis Bosarge, Sr. -- a lifetime resident of Grand Bay, AL, passed away at home suddenly on February 11, 2005. He was 54 years old. Layton attended college at Troy State University. He retired from Chevron Refinery after 28 years of service at the young age of 47, in order to spend more time with his family. In his retirement, he was Manager of Aquaculture Oyster Farm in Bayou La Batre, AL and was a volunteer in the Mobile Bay Oyster Gardening Program since its beginning. He was also a member of St. Margaret's Parish, Eagle Scout, Lifetime member of Girl Scouts of America, Member and Former President of High Hill Hunting Club of McIntosh, AL, Silk Ridge Softball Coach and player, Coach and Former Board Member of the Grand Bay Union Athletic Association for T-ball, Coach-Pitch, and Minor League, and Member of Band Boosters at Bryant High School. He was preceded in death by his son, Max Edward Bosarge, and his parents, Edward Louis and Myrtle Clark Bosarge of Grand Bay, AL. Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Chris Willingham Bosarge; three daughters, Kelli Nicole Bosarge of Pascagoula, MS, Katherine (Katie) Irene Bosarge and Suzanne Claire Bosarge of Grand Bay, AL ; three sons, Layton Louis (Katrina) Bosarge, Jr. of Mobile, AL, John Stephan Bosarge and Seth Robert Bosarge of Grand Bay, AL; one brother, Melvin Bosarge of Grand Bay, AL; two sisters, Anelda Williams of Grand Bay, AL and Dema (Steve) Crockett of Bayou La Batre, AL; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation and Rosary will be held at Serenity Funeral Home on Monday, February 14, 2005 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at St. Margaret's Catholic Church. Interment will take place in Oddfellows Cemetery. Arrangements by SERENITY FUNERAL HOME, 8691 Old Pascagoula Road, Mobile, AL.

Dear Chris et al

I was so saddened to have returned from a weekend trip to hear Jan's message of the passing of Layton. Time passes so quickly. I can't believe you and Layton had been married for so long. Chris, my prayers are with you all. You are so strong, have been through so much...persevere as you always have. I remember you as a fourth grader, Chris...even then you showed strength, courage, and conviction. Take care my dear one.

Prayers and thoughts are with the family. I remember visiting as a child at Aunt Myrtle's house and seeing him there every once in a while he was an active person then as he is now. As an adult we hunted with him for the last four years and enjoyed his freindship

I am saddend by the loss of Layton; this is such a shock. I graduated with Layton from Mobile County High School in Grand Bay, AL. He was such a dear, sweet friend. The memories of Layton will be forever etched in our hearts, and they can never be taken away. My sincere condolences to Chris, children and the rest of Layton's family. May it comfort you to know that Layton is now in God's loving arms, that he will live forever in your hearts and that one day you will be with him again. Layton and I graduated together and both made Eagle Scout at the same time. We also had a very memorable trip to Tuscaloosa to watch the Crimson Tide play. He was a genuine person. I regret we didn't keep in touch more after high school. Sylvia and I will keep the family in our prayers.
