Paul Goldfarb Obituary

GOLDFARB Dr. Paul M. Sr., 90, died Feb 17, 2007. Funeral services were held in Mobile, AL. Dr. Goldfarb was born May 27, 1916, in Mississippi. He attended undergraduate school at the University of Mississippi and then Tulane School of Medicine in New Orleans. He interned at Touro Infirmary and did his residency at the Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans. In New Orleans, he met Claire Kern to whom he was married for 56 years, until her death in 1999. He served in the U.S. Naval Medical Corps during World War II. He moved to Mobile in 1948, where he practiced internal medicine until 1992. After his retirement, he held part-time positions at the Mobile Infirmary and the University of South Alabama Student Health Center. Dr. Goldfarb was active in a number of community organizations, and was a past President of both the Mobile Medical Society and the Springhill Avenue Temple. He is survived by his three children, Ann (Robert) Abel of Charlotte, NC, Dr. Paul M. Goldfarb, Jr. (Terry) of Lexington, KY, Kathryn K. Goldfarb (Dan Lanigan) of Arlington, VA; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. The family has requested that contributions be sent to the Springhill Avenue Temple, 1769 Springhill Ave, Mobile, AL 36607 or Hospice and Palliative Care, Charlotte, NC Region, 1420 East Seventh Street, Charlotte, NC 28204.
