Peggy Harrell Obituary
May 14, 1933 - August 18, 2021
Lexington, Kentucky - Peggy C. Harrell, 88, widow of the late Ralph (Henry) Harrell of Lexington, succumbed to a long battle with dementia, and passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at the Bradford Square Skilled Nursing Facility in Frankfort, KY.
Peggy was born on May 14, 1933 to the late William (Homer) and Susie (Stanfield) Cartee on May 14, 1933 in Chattanooga, TN. Prior to moving to Frankfort, Peggy lived in Lexington for over 50 years.
Peggy was a retiree of the University of Kentucky, Department of Material Science, where she was an Executive Secretary. A die-hard UK fan, she and Ralph were basketball season ticket holders from the time Rupp Arena opened.
They were also passionate owners, breeders and handlers of Champion Smooth Standard Dachshunds.
Peggy is survived by her daughter, Leslie Harrell (James) Isaman of Frankfort, one niece, Mrs. Tina Boyd of Ringgold, GA, and several cousins in southern TN and northern GA.
In addition to her husband and parents, Peggy was preceded in death by an older sister, Syble (Stanfield) Shriver.
Services will occur on Thursday at Milward-Southland: visitation from 5pm until 7pm; memorial service at 7pm. Please join us in wearing UK attire, represent your dog breed of choice, Lexington Kennel Club or Take the Lead clothing.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Take the Lead, P.O. Box 6353, Watertown, NY 13601, the Lexington Humane Society or a Dachshund rescue of your choice. The most profound way to honor Peggy's memory would be to adopt a shelter pet or buy from a reputable breeder.
