Dr Doty was a treasured friend of my grandparents, Harmon and Lucille Barlow of Barren County, Kentucky, and he used to come visit them and us (my parents, siblings, and I lived right down the road) on our farm when I was a little boy. He told us stories of his many adventures, and he preached at our church, Salem Baptist. As an adult, I have read his yearly letters by email about his ongoing adventures and the part he played in so many peoples lives, like he did in ours, like a looked-for traveler with news of far-off places. May he rest in the peace and joy of his Saviors love!
