W.B. Ritchie Obituary

W.B. Ritchie, 105, of 1942 Brent Street, husband of Claudia Lillian Jackson Ritchie, died Friday, November 22, 2002 at the nursing home. A native of Nicholas Co., KY, he was born September 23, 1897 to the late CC & Claudia Snapp Ritchie. He worked for the Pepper Peake Florence Tobacco Warehouse in Cynthiana for thirty-seven years after moving to Paris. He & his wife of eighty-three years this past April were the oldest living couple in the world & received a plaque from the WORLD GUINNESS BOOK OF RECORDS to verify their long life together. He was a member of the Saltwell United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of eighty-three years, Claudia Lillian Jackson Ritchie; two daughters, Helen Louise Pennington & Jewell Wagoner, all of Paris; eight grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; nineteen great-great grandchildren; a great-great-great grandchild; and a sister, Syrena Alexander, Carlisle. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, November 25, 2002 at the Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home by Rev. Dorothy Shannon with burial to follow in the Paris Cemetery. Visitation will be this evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Contributions suggested to the Salt Well United Methodist Church in Carlisle.
