MARIAN ( littlemary) (WRENN) HENSLEY-FERGUSON
May 19, 2024
I have only loving memories of a wonderful man. Little Mary will love you and miss you always.....my favorite childhood memories were on the Doolin farm every summer and holidays where my grandpa William Bill Wrenn and grandma Grace Wrenn lived while I was in elememtary school. They were the last sharecroppers who ran the farm. ( except Wayne said for few months one summer in 80,s a man stayed in the old house to mow) I asked if I could ride up to show my boys. HE was so surprised and yet HAPPY that ANYONE cared about that old house with no running water and an outhouse. HE said PLEASE come here and bring your boys and stay as long as you want. No one much cares about this old run down farm anymore. It touched his soul that my boys was playing on his tractors and cried when I said time to go.He said I wished my daughter and grandchildren loved it here like you all do. But she lived across the road so she had a nice view. I use to love going to the barn and helping feed the cows as papaw milked. I often seen Wayne and he was like an uncle to me. When I went to take four of my five sons to see my FAVORITE CHILDHOOD PLACE WAYNE WAS THEIR MOWING AROUND WHERE HIS MOM HAD LIVED IN THE LITTLE TRAILER BY THE MILK BARN LONG AFTER THE BIG HOUSE HAD FALLEN. HE LET MY SONS PLAY ON HIS TRACTORS AND SAID HE SO APPRECIATED ME COMING BY AND HAPPY TO SEE I BROUGHT MY SONS AND THAT THEY LOVED THE FARM. HE SAID HE HAD A DAUGHTER WHO LIVED ACROSS THE ROAD FROM THE BIG MAILBOX WHERE I USE TO PICK APPLES . HE WAS HAVING TROUBLE WALKING THEN BUT WAS WEEDEATING A FENCEROW ACROSS FROM WHERE HIS PARENTS LIVED IN A BIG HOUSE THAT HAD FALLEN APART YEARS AGO .SO SHE LIVED IN A TRAILER BY THE SHED THAT HELD THE CAR FOR YEARS WHICH HIS DAD DROVE( maybe 50-60's model) big tailight fins on back AND pink n white colored think'n a dodge maybe?!. I always loved that car! I USE TO WISH I HAD A PICTURE OF THAT OLD HOUSE WITH ALL THOSE METAL SIGNS RUSTING DOWN N THAT OLD CAR! IT WAS LIKE A TIME CAPSULE Back TO 1950! WHEN PEOPLE TRULY LOVE AND RESPECTED THE LAND AND HELPED AND TRULY LOVED THY NEIGHBORS AS THY SELF... Anyways- WAYNE Said HE DIDNT MOW THE REST OF THE FARM FOR YEARS BECAUSE HE WASNT ABLE TO - HEALTH PROBLEMS. BUT HE WOULD DIE TRYING TO MOW FROM THE MAIN ROAD UP BY HIS MOMMAS PLACE BY THE MILK BARN. IT WAS WHERE HIS FONDEST MEMORIES OF MOM AND DAD WERE. I ASKED IF I COULD DRIVE ON UP TO THE OLD HOUSE WHERE MY MOMMA USE TO LIVE WITH HER PARENTS AND SIBLINGS. HE SAID AS LONG AS YOU CAN GET THRU TALL GRASS Y'ALL GO AND STAY AS LONG AS YOU WANT ANYTIME YOU WANT NO ONE ELSE GOES THERE ANYMORE.. SO ME AND MY BOYS HUNTER , BOBBY , DALLAS , AND BAILEY CAN ALL GO ON UP THE HILL TO THE HOUSE WHERE BILL AND GRACE LIVED ANYTIME! ? YEP HE SAID JUST Watch fer snakes n critters HE SAID, cuz - HE HADNT MOWED UP THERE PAST THE WINDMILL WHERE THE SPRING WAS ,(WHERE THE GREEN TUPPERWARE CUP HUNG ON A NAIL FOR DECADES). I ASKED WHY? NO ONE IN FAMILY CARED ABOUT FARMING THESE DAYS. It's just become an old thing of the PAST HE SAID , PRETTY MUCH LIKE ME SINCE I GOT DIABETES ;N LEGS N ANKLES SO SWOLLEN I CAN BARLEY WALK ANYMORE. BUT SO HAPPY HE WAS MINUTES FROM FINISHING UP WHEN ME AND MY BOYS HAD JUST PULLED UP IN A VAN . OH MY WORD HE SAID AT
FIRST WHEN WE ALL GOT OUT ,WHO DO WE HAVE HERE HE ASKED? I SAID HUNTER , BOBBY THEN I HAVE DALLAS WAYNE AND BAILEY. I AM BILL & GRACE WRENN'S GRANDDAIGHTER LITTLE MARY WHO CAME EVERY SUMMER UNTIL THEY MOVED TO LANCASTER IN EARLY 80'S. I SAID HAVE YOU SEEN ANY OF THE WRENNS SINCE? OH YEAH JUST LAST WEEK; HE WAS HAPPY TO REPORT HE SEEN ROBERT RECENTLY HE LOANED HIM A TRACTOR CUZ HIS BROKE AND TOLD HIM WHEN YOURE DONE JUST PUT IT WHERE IT GOES AND OF COURSE HE DID. ALL KEYS STILLSTAYING IN IGNITIONS.. HE MISSED THOSE DAYS OF FARMERS HELPING THEIR NEIGHBORS. ITS QUICKLY COMING TO AN END NOW AND PEOPLE CARING FOR EACH OTHER LIKE WE ALL USE TO. I COULD TELL HE KNEW AND LOVED MY UNCLES AND GRANDPARENTS WELL. MY UNCLES , JULIAN AND ROBERT WRENN BOTH LIVED IN BRYANTSVILLE NEAR BY AND FARMED STILL FOR YEARS. SO I RENTED A HOUSE FOR A YEAR IN 1999 AND THE BUS DRIVER, CHICK Edgington , was SWEETEST LADY WHO GAVE MY BOYS CANDY FOR BEING GOOD. SHE ALSO HAD DONE THE SAME FOR MY MOTHER AND HER SIBLINGS! MOM was born in 1954 so like fifty years nothing changed in BRYANTSVILLE KY ( which it only had 100 mailboxes at post office ) which didn't deliver SO if you needed DELIVERY you took on the main towns address of Lancaster , KY 40444 which was easy to remember for kids... WE CALLED IT ROCKY TOP. SINCE THERE WAS A ROCKY TOP SHELL AND ROCKY TOP LOG FURNITURE PLACE ON THE ROAD AND CAMP DICK ROBINSON ELEMENTARY WAA TWO MILES AWAY, PERFECT TINY TOWN LIVING TO ME SO, I BOUGHT MY FIRST HOME IN 2000, ONLY FEW MILES AWAY FROM WAYNE DOOLINS FARM. I felt like I lived in MAYBERRY( ANDY GRIFFIN) I PLAYED AND MADE MANY MEMORIES ON WAYNES FARM WITH AUNT DONNA WRENN( LAMB) AND UNCLE MORRIS GROVER WRENN ( DOWNS SYNDROME) HE LOVED N HUGGED EVERYONE IN TOWN OFTEN! I AM SO SAD THAT WAYNE PASSED BEFORE MY LAST SON JOSEPH WAS BORN SO I NEVER WENT BACK TO VISIT THE DOOLIN FARM AGAIN. BUT I WILL ALWAYS LOVE WAYNE DOOLIN AND HIS FAMILY . I NAMED ONE OF MY SONS DALLAS WAYNE SO I WILL FOREVER REMEMBER WAYNE AND LOVE HIM STILL IN MY HEART TODAY AS MUCH AS EVER. I AM DAUGHTER OF MARILYN D. WRENN) MY NAME AT BIRTH WAS MARIAN WRENN. BUT WAYNE NEVER FORGOT ME AND HIS LOVE AND CARE OF THE FARMLAND IS IN MY HEART AND OFTEN AS I GARDEN WITH MY GRANDDAUGHTER I RECALL HOT LAZY SUMMER DAYS AT THE FARM WITH WAYNE DOOLIN AND MY PAPAW WRENN AND HOW WE WOULD GO FISHING ON THE OUTLET OF HERRINGTON LAKE THAT WAS ON THAT FARM.I RECALL FLOODS WHERE WE BOATED ACROSS TO ROAD...MY CHILDHOODS HAPPIEST MEMORIES WERE THERE ON THAT FARM AND IF ANYONE EVER MOVED THERE TODAY MAY GOD BLESS THEM WITH ONLY THE HAPPIEST MEMORIES BEACAUSE THE DOOLIN FARM HAD MANY HAPPY MEMORIES. MY HEART IS STILL THERE ON WAYNE'S OLD FARM. I LOVE YOU THEN NOW AND FOREVER WAYNE! I HOPE YOU'RE IN HEAVEN WITH UNCLE JULIAN, ROBERT, GRANDMA GRACE AND GRANDPA BILL WRENN AND UNCLE BILLY WRENN TOO. I KNOW THEY ALL.CARED FOR YOU AS MUCH AS I DID. I DID NOT KNOW YOUR DAUGHTER WAYNE BUT, SHE IS SUCH A LUCKY LADY TO HAVE A SUCH A KIND, CARING, LOVING ,DOWN- TO -EARTH MAN FOR I OFTEN WISHED MY DADDY WAS SO CARING AND LOVING AND MADE ME FEEL AS WELCOME TO COME AROUND AS YOU DID. MUCH LOVE TO WAYNE DOOLINS FAMILY I AM SO VERY SORRY HE ISNT HERE ANYMORE BUT I AM SURE
HE IS IN A BETTER PLACE. GOD BLESS THE DOOLIN FAMILY!! AND ANYONE THAT READS THIS!

Sorry to hear about your Dad. I thought alot of your Dad and Mom. Under the circumstances, we will be unable to attend the visitation or funeral. Please know that we are thinking of you and your family.

Peggy,
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your Father. I will be unable to attend the visitation or funeral but will be with you in thought, concern and prayer. Your parents have now been united again. May the special and beautiful memories that you hold near and dear to your heart bring you peace. Embrace your inner strength as you walk this walk. Peace be with you.
