William Silvia

SILVIA Dr. William Joseph, 59, husband of Pamela Jean Silvia, died Monday, September 14, 2015 at his residence in Versailles, KY. Born July 3, 1956 in Providence, RI, he is the son of Pauline Senecal Silvia of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Wakefield, RI and the late William F. Silvia. Bill was a graduate of Cornell University, the University of West Virginia (MS), and Colorado State University (PhD) and a professor of Animal Science at the University of Kentucky. Bill was the recipient of many teaching awards; the student-nominated University of Kentucky Great Teacher Award in 2009, and most recently, the 2015 American Dairy Science Association Purina Animal Nutrition Teaching Award in Dairy Production. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. Other survivors include one son, Alexander William (Annie) Silvia, Milwaukee, WI; three sisters, Michele Silvia, Hull, MA, Suzanne (Gregory) Mancini, Wickford, RI, and Judithe Romero, College Park, GA; two brothers, Stephen Silvia (Jennifer Paxton), Bethesda, MD and Tom Silvia (Shannon Chandley), Amherst, NH; many nieces and nephews; and Ernst and Roy. A private memorial service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mission Lexington, 230 S.
