Robert Lopez Obituary
Robert was born on December 26th 1956 in Havana, Cuba to parents Roberto " Kino" and Margot Lopez. Following his graduation from Key West High School in 1975 he began working in the family business, Kino Sandals, crafting unique footwear for locals and tourists visiting the island, where he later became Vice President and co-owner.
He was known for his attention to detail, having a keen eye and passion for gardening, art, architecture, and cuisine. He was also a great conversationalist, known by those close to him for his long format discussions. In his later years, he enjoyed splitting his time between Key West and West Palm Beach.
Having never married or having children his is survived by his two sisters, Ana Lopez Sariego, Christina Lopez, one niece, six nephews, and three cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Roberto and Margot Lopez, Grandmother Ana Casas Hernandez, Uncle Alberto Hernandez, and Aunt Rosalba Hernandez.
A funeral service will be held on Monday September 23, 2024 at 11:00am at the Basilica of St Mary Star of the Sea Church, 1010 Windsor Ln, Key West, FL 33040. Burial to follow in the family plot of the Key West City Cemetery. All arrangements are entrusted to Dean Lopez Funeral Home and Key West Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Key West Garden Club at West Martello Tower.
