Daniel Passon Obituary
Daniel Lewis Passon, known affectionately as Dan to his friends and loved ones, left this world on March 24, 2025, in Albany, Oregon, at the age of 83. Born on January 9, 1942, in FT Wayne, Indiana, Dan's journey through life was marked by an unwavering spirit, deep love for his family, and an enduring faith that guided his every step.
Dan grew up in the heart of the Midwest and later moved to Eddyville, Oregon, where he completed his high school education. He possessed a natural aptitude for mechanics, which led him to pursue specialized training in the automotive industry. His hands were skilled, and his knowledge vast, qualities that served him well throughout his professional life. In 1983, Dan embarked on a fulfilling career as a school bus driver for the Greater Albany Public School District, a position he held until his retirement in 2002. His dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of countless children was evident to all who knew him. Dan's mechanical expertise also shone through in his work for the Corvallis school system and for Paul's Auto Import in Corvallis. His skills as a diesel mechanic in Philomath were unparalleled, earning him the respect and gratitude of the community.
Dan's heart was always in tune with the music he led at Lacomb Bible Church for nearly two decades. His love for melody and harmony brought joy to many and was a testament to his faith-filled life. Beyond the walls of the church, Dan's adventurous spirit found expression in his love for motorcycles, snowmobiling, RV camping, and cherished trips to the beach. These activities brought him not just pleasure, but a profound sense of freedom and connection with the world around him.
He is survived by his loving spouse, Paulette Passon, and their children, Brian Passon (Jessie), Mary Simon, and Tami Hudson (Gary). Dan's vibrant legacy also lives on through his sisters, Sharon Goska (John) and Nancy Whitaker (Bob), and sister-in-law, Earlean Passon.
His passing leaves a void in the lives of those who knew him, but his memories will be treasured like precious jewels in the hearts of his family and friends. Those who knew Dan would describe him as spirited, loving, and faith filled. His life was a testament to the power of positivity and the strength of the human spirit. In the words of Helen Keller, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart." Dan felt life deeply, and his influence was a beautiful thing that touched all who had the privilege of feeling it.
Dan Passon's life was a melody of love, service, and unwavering faith that resonated in the hearts of those around him. He has left behind a symphony of memories that will continue to inspire and uplift all who were touched by his presence. As we say goodbye to this remarkable man, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will continue to guide us, just as the stars guide the voyager across the night sky. Dan's journey on earth has ended, but his light remains, a beacon of love and faith that will never fade.
Quote from Dan "I moved to Oregon 1946 at the age of 4 and my family came with me".
