Jeffrey Knight Obituary

Jeffrey Lawrence Knight passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025. He was born on February 23, 1961 to Beverley Anne and the late Arthur Pat Knight, and was 64 years old when called to his eternity.

Jeff is survived and missed by his loving wife Christina; and his eight children, Cecilia, Lucia, Stephen, Anastasia, John, Agnes, Felicity, and Perpetua.

He is also survived by his mother Beverley Anne Knight, brother Gregory Knight, and sisters Katherine Ducharme, Janine Stewart, and Sheila Croney.

Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Pat Knight.

He was born and baptized in Windsor, Ontario Canada, and lived there with his family until after graduating from school. He then attended the University of Ottawa. In the years that followed, Jeff, searching for God's will for him, pursued a vocation to the priesthood first in Canada, Rome, and then France. Finding that God was indeed directing his path, and that it was becoming clear that his vocation was not to continue at the seminary he was attending, he arrived in St. Mary's, Kansas in the fall of 1988, to teach at the St. Mary's college and school. It was here that he met and married his beloved wife, Christina.

He lived out in the country with his growing family as his work eventually changed from teaching, to computer programming, to online education. He had a great love for education and knowledge, especially pertaining to matters of the Catholic Faith. After moving to Veneta, Oregon with his wife and eight children in 2009, Jeff again changed occupations and worked in the forestry industry for a time.

The story of Jeff's life was one of ideals, optimism, patience, and generosity, with an unfailing and unique sense of humor that could make anyone smile.

In January of 2025 he was diagnosed with stomach cancer. Despite best efforts to fight the cancer, his health declined in the following months. He was very patient and optimistic during the time of his illness, giving a wonderful example to those around him.

Forever cherished and remembered by his wife and children as the most loving and wonderful husband and father, he was strong, yet gentle, as is said of St. Joseph, and did the utmost to fulfill his duty to God and to his family, in the best and most self-sacrificing way.

He touched the lives of all who knew him, and has many friends who will always keep his memory in their hearts.

God bless this man, who was a good and faithful servant.

Dear Christina and family. My heart is deeply saddened by the passing of your beloved husband and father. He was a man who truly lived his faith, a good and faithful servant of God whose life was guided by his love for the Lord and his devotion to his family.

His example of quiet strength, unwavering faith, and boundless love will remain a light for all who were blessed to know him. While words may never fully ease the pain of your loss, may you find comfort in knowing that his journey here was filled with purpose, and now, he rests in the eternal peace of our Heavenly Father.

May God´s grace surround you during this difficult time, and may the cherished memories you hold in your hearts bring you comfort in the days ahead.

With deepest sympathy and prayers, Diane (St Lucia)

I came to know Jeff when we were in our high-school years and budding base singers in Faith Unlimited. No knowing what to do with our lives after graduation in 1979, we went out to Calgary Alberta in the hopes of making some money and possibly a life in western Canada. We were very innocent kids relying on our faith-filled upbringing to get us through, which it did for the most part. We lost touch out there in 1980 and ,except for a brief encounter at Kathy or Shiela's one day, I have only heard stories of his experiences. He had the adventurous and fulfilling life we were searching for as kids. I'm so sorry it ended so soon. My condolences to those of you that knew Jeff during his journey. He has found his way. Love you all.

I only met Jeff one time, but thoroughly enjoyed my brief visit with him at his wife´s mother´s reception after her funeral. He and Christina truly were excellent examples of Christian Catholic virtue and I know he will be missed deeply, wonderful man, wonderful wife and beautiful children. May he rest in peace! +
