John Patrick Reed

John P. Reed, 71, of Springfield, passed away on October 24, 2025. He was born in Springfield, Illinois, the son of CJ and Margaret Reed. He received his bachelor's degree in economics from Chico State University in California. He moved to Springfield, Oregon in 1978. In 1981 he married Nola Kinsey and together they welcomed daughter, Amanda, in 1985. John held various jobs throughout his life, most recently spending 15 years as a courtesy driver at Kendall Toyota. This was the perfect job for him as he loved visiting with everyone he met. No one was a stranger. He enjoyed golf and gardening. John's greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, Emilia, who lovingly referred to him as "Punkin". He will be deeply missed by his wife, Nola, daughter Amanda (Francs), granddaughter, Emilia, sisters Caryn Gagarin (Mike), Mary DiLeo (Joe), brothers Joe Reed and David Reed (Tina), nieces, nephews and dear friends. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Major Family Funeral Home in Springfield, Oregon. Interment will be private at the request of the family.
