Allen Miller Obituary
Allen Dale Miller, 89, of Burnsville, MN, formerly of Mapleton and Hayfield, MN passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Havenwood of Burnsville in Burnsville, MN.
Allen was born on September 3, 1935, in Lu Verne, IA to Henry and Alzina (Johnson) Miller. He attended Lu Verne and Mason City, IA high schools. Upon graduation, he served in the US Army from 1953-1955. He married Darlene Teigen on March 16, 1957, in Lake Mills, IA and together they had three children, Cindy, Jeff and Brad.
Allen worked at IBM in Rochester, MN, retiring after 32 years. He was a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hayfield for 54 years. In 2014, Darlene and Allen moved to Mapleton, MN to be closer to their children. He then became a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Mapleton, MN.
Allen enjoyed golfing, fishing, and watching the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings, but the hobby he really enjoyed was raising, canning and eating tomatoes. Allen and Darlene were also big fans of Maple River and Apple Valley sports. They spent hours attending their grandchildren's events. Even traveling as far as California, Texas and Florida to follow softball. Allen had a great sense of humor and left his family with many great memories. He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife of 67 years, Darlene. They met on a blind date in November and were married in March. He always said he had to marry her quickly before she changed her mind.
Allen is survived by his wife, Darlene Miller of Burnsville, MN; children, Cindy (Jon) Rossow of Mapleton, MN, Jeffrey (Debra) Miller of Minnetrista, MN, and Bradley (Susanne) Miller of Burnsville, MN; grandchildren, Kelsey Rossow, Haley Rossow (Jay Kuehn), Whitney (Bryan) Frechette, Jace (Kati) Rossow, Samuel Miller (Fiancé, Courtney), and Seth Miller; great-grandchildren, Keira, Lyza and Lenni Rossow, and Harper and Hayden Frechette; sisters-in-law, LaVonne Aase of Austin, MN, Cheryl Sorbo of Clear Lake, IA, and Betty Jo Miller of Mason City, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Alzina Miller; brothers, Donald Miller, Jerald Miller and Dennis Miller; sisters-in-law, Donna Hanson and Rita Miller; brothers-in-law, Lewis Aase, Ronald Hanson and Bill Sorbo; parents-in-law, Selmer and Carmen Teigen.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 8, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 104 1st St SE in Hayfield, MN with Reverend Kristen Anderson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to his service at the church. Interment will be in Fairview cemetery in Hayfield, MN.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to Minnesota Hospice Foundation.
