Helen Chapman Obituary

Helen Elizabeth Chapman, 91, of Hayfield, MN passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Fieldcrest Care Center in Hayfield, MN. Helen was born on March 24, 1934, in Waltham, MN to Paul and Ruth (Beck) Tucker. She married Richard Chapman and together they had two children, Julie and Bruce. She worked for the Austin School System for 22 years. She was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church in Austin, MN for over 55 years. She was involved with the United Methodist Women, holding different positions throughout years, including being a part of the funeral committee, caring ministry, Sunday School, and Bible School. She was also a member of the Senior Center, the American Legion, and Red Cross. Helen enjoyed baking and cooking for her family, making all of their favorite foods and birthday desserts. She looked forward to having coffee with family and friends, listening to music and playing games. She also enjoyed traveling, puzzle books, reading, and crafting. Most of all she loved spending time with her family. She looked forward to their time at the lake, getting together with her grandkids and relatives at family picnics and crazy get-togethers. You would often see Helen admiring the beauty of nature; the sunset, the sunrise, the first snowfall, the lake and surrounding areas, the colors and beauty of flowers. You often find her watching and feeding the birds and squirrels. Helen is survived by her children, Julie (Ross) Clayton of Brownsdale, MN and Bruce (Tamara) Chapman of Rosemount, MN; grandchildren, Kyle (partner, Tessa) Clayton, Kory (Desirae) Clayton, Daniel Chapman, Sarah (Wes) Arentson, and Melissa (Mike) Larson; great grandchildren, Riley and Eli Clayton, Ava Chapman, Nolan and Ella Arentson, Havana, Layla, and Celina Larson; siblings, David (Susie) Tucker, Patty (Bob) Carlin, and Bill Tucker; many loving nieces and nephews; and her dear companion and friend, Jim Petersen.
