Bobby B. Gardner

Le Grange - October 22, 1932 - July 7, 2021

Bobby Bryan Gardner, 88, of La Grange, passed away on Wednesday, July 7, 2021.

Bobby graduated from Wheat Swamp High School (now North Lenoir) in 1951 and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he was stationed at Perrin AFB in Denison, Texas. He proudly served during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1955 and then with the Air Force Reserve at Stallings Field from 1955-1965. Bobby retired from Alsco (formerly Servitex) after 40 years of service.

Bobby was an active member of Wheat Swamp Christian Church and served in many capacities, including Deacon, Deacon Emeritus, Treasurer, and, along with his wife, taught Sunday School classes and Youth Groups.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Bettie Gardner, his sister, Mildred Gardner Black, and his son-in-law, Douglas Harrison.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jean Beaman Gardner, of the home, a daughter, Catherine Gardner Harrison, of Raleigh, and a granddaughter, Hannah Harrison, also of Raleigh.

Visitation will be held at Howard-Carter Funeral Home on Vernon Avenue from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 9, 2021. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 10, 2021, followed by burial at Pinelawn Memorial Park.

Howard-Carter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
