Tommy Farwell Obituary

Tommy Rex Farwell, 85, of Green Castle, Missouri, passed away Friday, October 17, 2025 at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

The son of Otto Rex and Mae Elizabeth (Ireland) Farwell, he was born January 15, 1940 in Cassville, Missouri. Tommy was united in marriage on August 9, 1972 in Jenkins, Missouri, to Mary Elizabeth Snider who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Andrew (Allison) Farwell of Kirksville and Matthew (Kristin) Farwell of Green Castle; one daughter Annie (Brad) Brimmer of Ortonville, Michigan; one sister, Shirlie Abbott of Lebanon, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Wilena Farwell of Republic, Missouri, and Georgia Hart of Eagle Rock, Missouri; and eleven grandchildren: Jackson, Lauren, Ellie, Ashlyn, Lincoln, Luke, Miles, Bennett, Savannah, Ainsley and Joseph.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, O.W., Donald and Forrest Farwell; one sister, Melba Sullivan; and one grandson, Owen Brimmer.

Tommy graduated from Cassville High School with the Class of 1957. He moved to Adair County in 1972.

Tommy, a man defined by his hard work and generous spirit, will be deeply missed by his family. Known as a true cowboy, he dedicated his life to raising and training horses and cattle, as well as his beloved English Shepherd dogs. His dedication to his family was matched by his compassion for his community, and his philanthropic nature left a lasting impact on many.

In his youth, Tommy was a natural leader, serving as the captain of his high school football team. Throughout his life, he found community and purpose through his faith at the First Assembly of God in Kirksville and Cassville, and his passion for community extended to his involvement with the Green City Roping Club, Full Gospel Businessmen Fellowship International, and the Barry County Sheriff's Posse.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at the First Assembly of God church in Kirksville with Pastor Shawn Meintz presiding. A private burial will immediately follow with Pastor Brad Brimmer officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church.

Memorial donations in memory of Tommy may be made to the First Assembly of God Youth Group. Donations may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, Missouri 63501.
