Ernest Alvin Martsching
Ernest Alvin Martsching, 66, passed away on November 13, 2020, from a heart attack. Ernie was born November 7, 1954 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Serena Martsching. He attended Ottumwa High School, and Evergreen State College in WA, receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English. He was a Vietnam Veteran who served 10 years in the Navy. He retired from Puget Sound Naval Shipyard (PSNS) in 2012 with 32 years of federal service. At PSNS he worked as a Physical Science Technician in C/105, and, also, served as President, and Business Manager for International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, (local IBEW 574), for many years. Ernie was a renaissance man blessed with many talents. He was a published author, gifted artist, and photographer. He was an actor, and baritone singer. He was a well-versed scholar in astronomy, geology, history, and the Bible, which he had memorized. He was a superb cook, and loved sharing barbecue, and smoked salmon. Other hobbies included crosswords, fishing, reading, camping, Star Trek, and CB radio. He was a passionate golfer, and longtime member of Gold Mountain Golf Club, and PERA League. Everyone he met was guaranteed a joke, and a laugh. Most of all, Ernie will be remembered as a kind, generous, and loving man. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Debra, at their family home they shared 33 years in Manchester, WA. He is, also, survived by his stepdaughter, Deanne Bays, grandchildren, Tyler Bays, Autumn Bays, William Pitts, and Daniel Pitts, his sister Karen Wilson, brothers, Terry Wilson, Donald Wilson, Tony Wilson, Jack Wilson, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his Mother, Serena Martsching, his sister Cheryl Wilson, and stepson Daniel Varo. Due to COVID restrictions, a gathering of friends will be held at Gold Mt. Golf Course, and Interment at Tahoma National Cemetary, Kent, WA, in the Spring of 2021. Visit
