Keith Peterson of Poulsbo passed away on April 30. He was born to Eugene and Lucile (Vaa) Peterson in Seattle in 1945, and lived in Seattle until his graduation from Lincoln High School in 1963. Keith's parents had grown up in Poulsbo (his grandparents and great-grandparents had been long-time residents as well), and once Keith married and started a family, he moved his own family to Poulsbo, purchased property near where his mother's family had homesteaded in the 1800s, and built a house he lived in for the rest of his life. He married Nina (Watson) Battin in November of 1992. He commuted from Poulsbo to jobs in the trucking industry in Seattle, Renton and Kent and retired from the industry after 35 years. Keith was a skilled woodsman and mechanic, and loved being out on his boat on the Hood Canal, and using his backhoe for many projects and activities on his acreage (and many of his neighbors' projects as well). He was funny and loved to laugh and have a good time. He made a great effort to keep in touch with friends and family members, and he loved to visit and tell stories. He was very generous with this time, help and advice to family, friends and neighbors. He will be missed so very much. Keith is survived by his wife Nina Peterson, sister Jill Stark, daughters Kristine Peterson Clucas (Matthew) and Erika Peterson, and grandsons Joshua & Christopher Clucas, and Bryce & Reese Battin. He was preceded in death by his stepson Robert Battin.
Services will be held at Stone Chapel in Poulsbo at a date to be determined.
The family requests that memorial gifts be made in in Keith's name in support of the CILD at UW Medicine. (Checks should be made payable to the "UW Foundation" and mailed to: UW Medicine Advancement, Attn.: Gift Processing, Box 358045, Seattle, WA 98195-8045, or may be made online).
