Marian Rova Obituary

Marian Martin Rova

Poulsbo - Marian Martin Rova was born in Tacoma, Washington on December 10, 1923 to Jennie Mae and Benedict William Martin. She passed away in Poulsbo, Washington on January 11, 2021 at 97 years of age.

Marian graduated from Camas High in 1942 and worked for a few years at Crown Zellerbach during World War II. She met Victor Rova at a dance she attended with her cousins, whom he also knew. They were married on January 10, 1948 at her parents' home and then spent their honeymoon driving through California and the southwestern states.

Marian enjoyed music, knitting, traveling and planning trips with her husband and their family. She volunteered at Vinland Lutheran Church for many years as well as at both Ebenezer and Martha & Mary in Poulsbo. She was a big reader, a legacy that endures with not only her children but her grand and great grandchildren. She loved watching birds on their Hood Canal property, where she lived most of her life. She was a huge sports fan, following not only her beloved Huskies but the Seattle Sonics, Mariners and Seahawks. She learned to paint in her nineties and won awards for her artwork at the Kitsap County Fair. Her friends and family will remember her as one of the best correspondents, finding any small holiday as more than enough reason to send a note to someone she loved.

She is survived by her four children, John Rova (Kathi Chapman), Karen Bow (Terry), Marsha Rova (Scott Morgan) and Vicki Rova Mueller. The apples of her eye, Marian has four surviving grandchildren, Jennie Griek (Forrest), Julia Beerbower (Brian), Victor Morgan and Erik Morgan. Marian has five great grandchildren whom she adored: Svea, Axel and Anders Griek and Maeve and Freya Beerbower. She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Rova and her son-in-law, Gary Mueller.

Private funeral services will be held on January 20th at Vinland Lutheran. Viewing will be held January 19th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at Lewis Chapel in Bremerton and COVID restrictions will apply. Special thank you to the staff of Martha & Mary for the wonderful care they showed to Marian, where she lived over the last several years of her life. Memorial gifts may be made to the Vinland Cemetery Fund, per Marian's request. On-line memorial may be read at www.lewischapel.com .

My fondest memories were eatiung oysters we collected on the shopre below her home and the wonderfual trip we took from Pulsbo to the Seayyle World's Fair on the ferry! We stayed with Aunt Genny on that trip and brought Grandma (Iva Wells) Holman with us!

Marian was an amazing woman. For many years she held the "Sunshine" position for Women of Vinland at Vinland Lutheran Church. In this position she sent out anniversary and birthday cards in beautiful calligraphy. Thanks for the memories! Hugs, Robyn Prehm

We recall Marian fondly, in visits to her & Vic's home and Great Aunt Jenny. We stayed there when we all went to the the Seattle World's Fair - so fun. I recall learning to shuck and eat oysters from their beach. Very wonderful relatives. Looking forward to meeting John (and Karen?) for lunch in Olympia some time soon.
