Burl Mowry Obituary

MOWRY, BURL THOMAS - of South Knoxville, passed away Friday, July 22, 2011 at NHC Healthcare, Fort Sanders at the age of 91. Mr. Mowry was a member of Central United Methodist Church. He was a retired employee of Frozen Foods of Knoxville and Veteran of the U. S Army having served in WW II. Preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Virginia Mowry; wife, Sara Elizabeth Thornton Mowry; several brothers and sisters. He is survived by his daughter, Dianne Clevenger of Knoxville; grandchildren, Jennifer Faauaa of Murfreesboro and John Marshall of Knoxville; great-grandchildren, Ariel Faauaa, Erin Faauaa and Austin Marshall. A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel with Reverend Bruce Galyon officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Sunday prior to the funeral service at the mortuary. Online condolences may be extended at www.rosemortuary.com. I was so sorry to learn this morning about Uncle Tom's passing. He was such a kind and gentle soul and will be greatly missed. He and mother were so much alike in looks and many other ways. I will always remember his sweet smile. God Bless Him and may he rest in peace.
