Carl Edward Vandergriff, age 82, went home to his Heavenly Father following a swiftly fought battle with cancer on February 21, 2018. He passed at his home in Knoxville, Tennessee, surrounded by his loving wife, family, and dog. Carl and his wife owned Quality Printing. He was a charismatic business man who had a unique knack for wheeling and dealing. Carl had a quick wit and was able to find humor in almost any situation. He loved playing cards, a game of pool with friends, and mowing his lawn. Carl enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels while he sat on his sunporch and spending time with his dog. He is preceded in death by his sister, Louise Presnell and brother, Charlie Vandergriff. Carl is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Mary Sue Vandergriff; children, Doug Vandergriff (Debbie), Robin Vandergriff Underwood (Jay), Mark Chris Sayne (Vickie), Penny Vandergriff Behrens (James), Greg Vandergriff (Cindy), Karla Vandergriff Farabow, Maria Vandergriff-Avery (Christopher), and Tonya Vandergriff Childress (Todd); stepchildren, Tana Helms (Mike), Michael Ridings (Vickie), and Del Ray Simmons (Joseph Bruckner); numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Thelma Jones; his favorite (four-legged) child, Freddy; numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends, Marilyn and Tarun Arora. A graveside service will be held at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens, 160 Edgemoor Road, Powell, on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 11:00a.m. A reception will follow at the Vandergriff home from 1:00p.m. to 3:00p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that individuals make a donation to the charity of their choice in Carl's honor.
