Knoxville, TN

Carrie M. Vickers, age 81, of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at her home. She was a member of North Acres Baptist Church. Carrie retired from the Knox County Health Department with many years of service.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles D. Vickers; son, Clint Moss; parents, Ernest and Anne Lunsford; brothers, Tommy, Tony, Lloyd and Ernie Lunsford. She is survived by her daughter, Penny Knighten and husband David; step-sons, John and Jim Vickers; grandchildren, Nick, Todd, Rachel, Melanie, and Barbara; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Julia, Haley, Wyatt, and Canaan; sisters, Jean Walton, Hallie McCart, and Wilma Horton; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 7:30 p.m. with Rev. William Purvis officiating. Family and friends will gather at 10:45 a.m., Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Greenwood Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. graveside services. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the East Tennessee Kidney Foundation (P.O. Box 22072, Knoxville, TN 37933).
