Rev. Charles Rose
Knoxville - Rev. Charles Alfred Rose - born July 15, 1924, of Knoxville, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 24, 2021. Member of Chilhowee Hills Baptist Church. US Marine Corps veteran of WWII when he was awarded the Bronze Star with Valor. Rev. Rose retired from Otis Elevator Co. in 1969. He and his wife, Janie, then founded the business, Rose Septic Tank Service, Inc. A business that still provides service to Knox and surrounding counties over fifty years later. Through that he was instrumental in starting several other successful business ventures. He was proud to be a farmer and to teach good work ethics to his family and anyone who wanted an opportunity to better themselves. One of his biggest passions in life was studying, preaching, and teaching the Bible. He was a member of Burlington Lodge #763 F&AM, Knoxville Scottish Rite, Knoxville York Rite bodies, Kerbela Shriners, and an Honorary Member of the Legion of Honor of the International Order of DeMolay. Preceded in death by parents, Martin and Elizabeth Rose; wife, Naomi Jane Rose; infant daughter; and son, Steven D. Rose. Survived by children, daughter-in-law, Janice Rose, Timothy (Michelle) Rose, Mark (Karen) Rose, Dennis (Tammy) Rose, and Robbie (Chi Chi) Langston; grandchildren, Amy Rose, Traci (Michael) Denham, Brooke (Dan) Phillips, Julie (Brent) Whitley, Justin (Kristen) Rose, Adam (Courtney) Rose, Nick (Christy) Rose, April (Bill) Lewellyn, Miranda (Austin) Helton, Matthew Rose, Macaleb (Caroline) Rose, Rebekah (Jacob) Lanning; and 28 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at Bridges Funeral Home followed by a Masonic Service-Burlington Lodge #763. Family and friends will meet 12:45 PM on Thursday at East TN Veteran Cemetery on Lyons View Pike for a 1:00 PM graveside service with military honors provided by East TN Veteran Honor Guard.
