He announced the football games at Seymour High School from 1986-1993 and he was known as "The Voice of the Eagles." He was a member of the Sevier Heights Baptist Church since 1991 where he enjoyed his participation each year in the Living Christmas Tree, as well as other dramas, narrations and recitations. He was in sales his entire work life until January 2004 when he and his son bought a business, High Mountain Vac, in Sevier County and worked it together. Sorry to hear about Danny's passing. He and I were team mates on the 1960 East High Track Team. He was not only a fine trackster, but a great person. We will all miss him.

I was so sorry to hear about his death- I went to East later than he did but always heard about him and the stuff he did- My twin Lawrence went there and kept up with sports a lot of the time and I would hear from one of the teachers a lot about him. Sorry don't remember which- she was crazy about his abilities though. So naturally made him a legend there.I lost my husband to cancer also and know how that is. May God give you all the comfort you need and He is there with you and remember now what is hard to understand- He will never give you more than you can handle. My prayers are with you.

To Danny Smith's family - I was so sorry to hear about Danny. Although I didn't graduate until 1966 from East High School, my sister Nancy Cash graduated in 1963 and I am sure she thought highly of Danny. We lost her in 2004. So on her behalf I wanted to send my sympathy to the family. Danny is singing in God's choir now and has no more pain and suffering.

Jim and I would like to send our sympathy to Danny's Family. We are friends with his son and had the opportunity to meet him this past year. He was a very sincere man and a pleasure to chat with. God Bless.

Debbie, DeeDee, & Derek,

I believe it was God's intervention to have Derek stop by the resort today. I was so surprised to see him, and even more surprised to hear of Danny's passing. He will always be a bright spot in my memories of Sevier Heights, and I will never forget the way he so obviously expressed his love for each of you and for His Savior. It's a comfort to know he's now home. God bless each of you. You're in my heart.

As a member of the Sevier Heights Baptist Church Choir, it was always wonderful having Danny narrate with the choir to present God's word. His talent was used for the Lord. He was a faithful leader in the Living Christmas Tree and was a supporter for the Choir this last December. My prayers are with his family; however, he is suffering no more. He is home.

It was great to see Danny at the LCT this year. He will be missed here, but I know that he is home now. He who began a good work in Danny has been faithful to complete it. May the God of all comfort be near to those left behind.

As a former member of the SHBC choir, I always truly appreciated Danny's contributions to the Living Christmas Tree and the way he enhanced the choir on several occasions through his narrations. He was always an inspiration to me personally. Your family will be in my prayers throughout this trying time.
