Dexter Jordan Obituary

JORDAN, REVEREND DEXTER LEE, SR. - age 75, entered into heaven Saturday, June 6, 2009. He was baptized and ordained at First Calvary Baptist Church in the Lonsdale community where he served as deacon and associate minister, choir member with gospel and male chorus, and senior choir. He later became affiliated with Victory View Baptist Church, East Knoxville. He pastored Mount Zion Baptist Church in Kenvir Kentucky. Dexter loved the Lord and used his singing gift through the years singing with the Royal Travelers, Southern Travelers, and managed the Spiritual Uplifters, and Twilight Gospel Singers. He was a community leader, and father figure to many. Before his retirement in 1994 he was employed at American Management as Maintenance Supervisor. Preceded in death by mother, father, three siblings, two granddaughters, and two grandsons. Survivors devoted and loving wife of fifty-five years, Gertrude Jordan; children, Bobbie (James) Allen, Mary (Frank) Washington, St. Louis Mo, Robert Parris, Patricia (Samuel) Broyles, James (Cheryl) Jordan, Stevie (Pamela) Jordan, Pastor Dexter (Barbara) Jordan, Gloria Underwood, Elder Paul (Sharon) Jordan; twenty-two grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the staff at NHC Fort Sanders. Family will receive friends Saturday, 11:00-12:00 noon, Saturday June 13, 2009, at First Calvary Baptist Church 1750 Delaware Ave, Knoxville TN 37921.; funeral service, 12:00 noon, Pastor Benjamin Lewis, Officiating, Rev.
