I just heard about Gary's death. He was a great friend of mine in high school. We even went on a spring break trip to Florida with my boyfriend one year. Have great memories of him. He really was a sweet person. I am very sorry for you and your family's loss.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss of Gary. I remember so many times at Powell Elem and Powell High. We even shared the same birthday. I remember parties from Jr. High at Steve Thrasher house. Ellie and family...what an unexpected shock when I opened the paper and found Gary's picture there. It has been many years since I worked with Gary in the pressbox for all of Powell's homegames, and recall with great joy the good fellowship we shared during those years. How Gary put up with me so long I'll never really know. I guess I'll have to ask him one day! Ellie, I met you many years ago when I worked in Home Health and took care of your dad Jim. I remember talking to you several times and was always amazed at how many things you had on your plate then. I am so sorry to hear of your husband's accident and death. but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;

Everynight when we would say our prayers with our daughter Alaina for the past year, we were always faithful to pray for Gary's healing and return home. Gary is now Home Free & he has received the Ultimate Healing. We are so sad that a friend that we have both known since childhood has been taken from us, but we rejoice to know that his suffering is over. Ellie, you are exactly what God instructs us to be as a spouse. April, TJ & Spencer, God most certainly smiled down upon your Mom & Dad when he chose to give them the 3 of you. This man was my uncle and I will miss him more than words can say. I take peace in knowing that he is home with our Lord and Savior. To my aunt Ellie And her kids I know that you are hurting right now. For that I am so sorry. There were many days that you all stood at uncle Gary's bedside and watched him go through the pain and I know there were days that everything looked ok and the hope that those days gave were breath taking. I want you to know that everyone was in awe by the way you stayed strong till the end. And how your faith NEVER waivered. We now know that God's plan was to take our Gary home with him. I take joy in knowing that I will see him again!
