Gary Edward Monroe
Knoxville - Gary Edward Monroe, age 66 of Knoxville (formerly of Sevier County), passed away Monday, January 18, 2021, just one-week shy of his 67th birthday. He graduated Sevier County High School in 1972. Gary always had a passion for the Sevier County Bears, Tennessee Volunteer sports, hunting and fishing. His greatest love of all was for Christ and his family. Gary was a member of Halls Primitive Baptist Church and also a member of French Broad Lodge #588. He will always be remembered for his keen sense of humor, vibrant personality, and contagious smile. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hall and Oda Lee Monroe; nephew, Steven Dale Monroe, Jr.
Gary is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Monroe; son, Phillip Monroe; daughters, Samantha Collins (Justen) and Sarah Monroe; grandchildren, Robert Ozias and Stuart Edward Collins; brothers, Steven Dale Monroe and Morris Hall Monroe (Myra); sister, Linda McCarter; sister-in-law, Mary Louise Monroe; many special aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Dr. Bruce Marston is officiating.
Memorial service is 2 PM on Saturday, January 23, 2021 in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. Due to COVID protocols and County Mandate, please wear face coverings and practice social distancing.
