Guy Rader Obituary

RADER, GUY S. - 88 of Whitesburg, passed away Wednesday morning, May 10, 2006 after a brief illness. He was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Morristown and the Hugh Taylor Sunday School Class. He was a retired employee of Norfolk Southern Corporation. A World War II veteran, Guy had served in Europe with the 727th Railroad Battalion and was a member of VFW Post 5266 of Morristown. He belonged to Masonic Lodge 422 of Whitesburg, was a 32nd Degree Mason, a 50 year member of the Scottish and York Rites and a 50 year member of Kerbella Temple of Knoxville. He was a member of the Morristown Shriners with which he had served as a past President and Chairman of the Shriners Paper Sale and participated for many years in the Morristown Sheiks Unit. He was a member of the Morristown Lions Club and a charter member of Whitesburg Ruritan and Community Clubs. The last surviving of seven children of Robert and Pearl Rader, he was also preceded in death by: his wife, Martha; and a granddaughter, Melinda Leigh Rader. Surviving are: his daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Dennis Pope of Whitesburg; son and daughter-in-law, Guy and Irene Rader of Germany; grandchildren, Rebecca Pope and Karl and Alex Rader; and several nieces and nephews. The Rev. Darris Doyal will officiate the Celebration of Guy's Life at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 13 in the First United Methodist Church where the body will lie in state for one half hour before services. Military graveside services and burial will follow in Bent Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, at Stetzer Funeral Home in Morristown. Memorial may be made to: the First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 101 E 1st North St., Morristown, TN 37814 or Shriners Hospital for Children, 3229 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio, 45229-3095.
