Harold Hackler Obituary

HACKLER, HAROLD DEAN - age 75 of Norris, passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2010. Dean was a graduate of Norris High School, class of 1953, and a founding member of the Norris United Methodist Church. He served two years in the United States Navy as an electrician on submarines and an additional four years in the Naval Reserves. Dean worked for over 25 years at Oak Ridge National Laboratory as a cyclotron operator at the X10 plant. He was very active in his church and community including serving one term on the Norris City Council and one term as vice-mayor of the City of Norris. For many years, he was a member of the Optimist Club and helped in the formation of NAGAF. His longest community service was with the Norris Volunteer Fire Department in which he was a member for 40 years. Dean was a generous, caring man who could fix anything and was always ready to help anyone in need. He enjoyed NASCAR, UT sports, a good joke and an occasional political debate. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 54 years, Rita Rosenbalm Hackler; his son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Laurie Hackler; his daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Dan Zachman. His grandchildren, Kelsey, Gabe and Brady Hackler and Abby and Josie Zachman will miss their adored Bubba. He will also be missed by his brothers, Bob and Ron Hackler and his sisters-in-law, Patricia Hackler, Linda Hackler, Sandra Nolan and Sharon Huffstutter and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 9, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. till 4:00 p.m. at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with a service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Norris United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 327, Norris, TN 37828 or the Norris Volunteer Fire Department, c/o the City of Norris, P. O. Box 1090, Norris, TN 37828. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of the arrangements. www.holleygamblefh.com
