Janet Lynn "Patsy" Ervin Mathis, affectionately called Queen, was born in Knoxville, Tennessee to the late Creolia Ervin and Willie J. Ealey. She attended Old Austin High School and graduated from Rule High School. She later attended a job corps nursing school program in Richmond, Virginia. She accepted Jesus Christ at a very young age.
Janet was preceded in death by parents, Creolia Ervin and Willie Ealey; step-father, Erskin Patton; brothers, Reginald Patton, Sr., Harry Ealey; brother-in-law, Cleophus Jackson; sisters, Linda Ervin, Shelia Patton; grandmother, Lucille McCray; aunts, Edna and Eva May McCray.She will be forever cherished by her daughters, Diane (Ivan) Roper, Donknesha (Daniel) Alford; sisters, Deborah (James) Blunt, Eartha (Michael) Day, Sandra (Andre) Atwater and Shirley Ealey; brothers, Carlos (Ingrid) Ervin, Willie (Eugena) Ervin, Michael (Monica) Ervin, William (Wonda) Ealey and Frankie Ealey; grandsons, Shawndaris McKinzie, Eric (Ereka) Macklin, Reginald Jones, Jr., Ivan Roper, Jr. and Khalil Roper; and nine great-grandchildren; devoted son-in-law, Trent Barton, Sr.; devoted friends, Maurice Dragg and Paul McKinzie.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 18th 12:00-1:00 p.m. at Peace and Goodwill Church, 1723 Washington Avenue, Knoxville. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m., with the Rev. John B. Jordan, Eulogist. Flowers may be delivered to the church on Thursday morning. Interment to follow at New Gray Cemetery and will conclude with a dove release ceremony. My condolence to you Deborah, Robin, Sandy,Carlos, Michael,and Willy.Im sorry that i couldnt be there but im in Nashville at Vanderbelt Medical Center dealing with some issues. I will be back in Knoxville next week. As you know my mother had both of her legs amputated and her left hand. She has been in and out of the hospital, but she has a lot of support and she is doing good. Annie Pearl is a strong woman and still does what she do.Anyway she probably dont know about Patsy yet so i will call her and let her know. Always keep God first and your family will be just fine.

Patsy, even that we didn't know each other,I feel that I knew so much wonder things about you thru your daughter diane,it is a hurting pain that will never leave when you lose not only your mother but also a friend also,cause I have been there also, you got your wings at a young age,just always smile down on your to lovely daughters and wink down at them so that they knows that everything is gonna be ok ,live you miss patsy.

I am so sorry to here of patsy's passing into the arms of OUR LORD.I hung out at her home in the late 60's toearly 1970's in the hieghts. We had lots of good friends Sam C. Goodie Man 'Dog H' Jun Bug' Davis her sisters and so many more 'Back then we had house partys' I would look around i was the only white man seting in the room But you must know back then in the hippy days of the 1970's we did not see black and white. I will miss her and her kindness she had for me . I would spend the night but cound not sleep because of Dog Hankens playing all night my friend i will never forget you Patsy. <3 Love and Peace and Flowers <3
