I had the joy to sale in many of the areas he had faith would come life. I am glad I paid attention. The Bible says "...have you behold a man skillfull at his work, he will station himself before kings...." Certainly Mr. Crossland was skillfull at his work and help me to be skillfull at mine by obeserving his intelect from a distance.

With the death of John Crosland, Jr. Heaven has gained another citizen and Charlotte has lost another of our dear sons.
John Jr., his father, and his mother contributed in manifold ways to the excellence of our local community. In turn, of course, these contributions became national and international in effects. An industrious visionary, he became one of the men who made Charlotte the great place in contemporary society that it is.
The John Crosland, Sr. home place is located just up the street from my residence. It was in that magnificent house on Belvedere Avenue that Mrs. Crosland Sr. began the Mint Museum Tour of Homes many years ago.
Old Charlotteans remember with gratitude many of the contributions made by Mrs. Crosland, Sr. , Mrs. Dwelle, and others. Those who know Charlotte are aware of the many fine structures in our city that are Crosland buildings.

I had the opportunity to work with John and his superb team in the mid to late 90's. I will never forget my entrance interview with him. He made me feel welcome, valuable to the team, and conveyed that the ethics and integrity that he adhered to were also expected of all there. He was a fine Southern gentleman and visionary businessman and will be much missed. My condolences go out to the family and his many friends. Alan Marshall

To John in Heaven ~ We all not only liked and admired you, we respected you ... as a smart businessman, a dedicated community supporter, and a visionary. The Shelter Providers Political Action Committee (SPPACE)was your baby and you put incredible hours and work into making sure the home-building industry was well-represented in Washington, DC, Raleigh and Charlotte. With your departure even those of us who haven't seen you in years will experience a huge void in our city. You will be missed but I bet there are already plans for several new, classy and gorgeous neighborhoods in Heaven.

Mr. Crosland, you are a wonderful man. I have a feeling you are still involved with the students of the school from a very special place now. Our family is so happy that Zachary will be going there and that you made it happen for him and many others that you saw the need to wrap your arms around each one and say "You can do this."
Thank you from all of our hearts. God bless you and keep you.

Red Man gave back so much !
Ultra competitive but so commited to housing for all
His legacy will live on for many years
Habitat for Humanity is today what it is in Charlotte thanks to John
He has meant so
Much to so many and we are all the better for his quiet commitment to make Charlotte what it is today
It is so ironic that his death follows so close to the passing of his long-time friend and business partner Allen Tate Jr
