Kathleen Price Valentine, age 89, of Maryville, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 20, 2015, from complications of Alzheimer's disease. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church, Seymour. She graduated from Pittman Center High School, Sevierville, in 1943. After graduation, she and Ashley Valentine, who were classmates since the 4th grade, eloped to Dalton, Georgia to get married before her mother knew she was gone, and before he joined the Marines to serve in WWII. They celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary on April 19. In her late forties, she took up painting as a hobby and became a respected artist. She was most proud of her 5'x3' painting of the Pittman Center Community Campus, as she remembered it from the days when she attended the school. It now hangs in the Eugene W. Huskey Environmental Center, located on the old campus for public viewing.

Preceded in death: mother, Sallie Cantrell Price; father, Wiley H. Price; brothers, Ralph and Paul Price. Survivors: husband, Ashley Valentine; two daughters, Janice Pryor Fox, of Maryville, Joan Valentine, of Knoxville; two sons, Clive Valentine (Shelley), of Dandridge, and Lynn Valentine, of Seymour; nine grandchildren, Connie Ricker, Kellie, Kathy, and Jeff Pryor, Janelle Valentine, Megan Gillespie, Veronica Stott, Jennifer Loveday, Kayla Valentine; six great-grandchildren, Lindsey Seymour, Gracie Pryor, Lane and Micah Stott, Avery and Juna Loveday; one great-greatchild, Jadon Sands; two nephews, Danny and Kenny Price, Oregon; sister-in-law, Mary Price, Oregon; brother-in-law, Bruce Valentine (Shirley), Birmingham, AL. Pall Bearers: Jeff Pryor, Mark Valentine, Rex Fox, Eric Stott, Andy Loveday, Nathan Seymour, Joshua Gillespie.

Receiving of friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Providence Baptist Church. Services will follow, officiated by Rev. Edward Parton, and Rev. Dave Burnette. Interment will be at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2015, In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Providence Baptist Church.
