Marshall Osteen Pace

Knoxville, TN

Marshall Osteen Pace - passed away at the age of 75, on June 25, 2017 at The University of Tennessee Medical Center. He married Phyllis Cooper on April 19, 1968. Marshall received his BS in Electrical Engineering from The University of South Carolina in 1963, his MS in Electrical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1965, and his PhD in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1970. Marshall was the Professor of Electrical Engineering at The University of Tennessee from 1970 - 2007, Emeritus Professor - 2007; Faculty Fellow NASA, Huntsville, Alabama; Principal Investigator NSF; Carborundum; Carrier; Union Carbide; Martin Marrietta; U S Department of Energy. Editor: Gaseous Dielectrics IV, 1984; Author of Tech Article; Patentee Gas Insulation. Named Tennessee Tomorrow Professor at The University of Tennessee in 1980; Engineering Distinguished Faculty Member 1984; Member of IEEE, Phi Beta Kappa, Tau Beta Pi, and Eta Kappa Nu. He loved travel, photography, and hiking, but his passion was teaching and his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Margaret Pace. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Phyllis; his daughters, Whitney Pace and Kimberly Bauer (Timothy); grandson, Benjamin; sister, Susan Fidelman; nieces, Emily and Peggy Fidelman; and his many friends and colleagues at The University of Tennessee. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 14, 2017 from 1 - 2 p.m. with a Celebration of Life at 2 p.m. at Click Funeral Home and Cremations, 9020 Middlebrook Pike, Knoxville, Tennessee 37923.
