MAURICE L. COTTRELL

COTTRELL, MAURICE L. - age 95 of Knoxville, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Ben Atchley Veterans Home following an extended illness. Mr. Cottrell was a longtime member of Smithwood Baptist Church and he was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army Air Corp. He was a retired employee of Southern Sanitary Supply and Kelso Oil Company. Following retirement, he was an avid golfer and was a charter member of Beaver Brook Golf and Country Club. Preceded in death by his wife, Marie Timmons Cottrell. He is survived by his loving daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Phillip Edmondson; grandchildren, Julie Edmondson Criner and husband Clay and their children Will and Ben, Charles Edmondson and wife Christy and their children Brooklyn, Matthew and Alexander, and Brian Edmondson and wife Lori; several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. Saturday at Greenwood Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service conducted by the Volunteer State Veterans Honor Guard.
