Melissa Hutcheson Obituary
Knoxville, TN
Melissa Morgan Hutcheson's life peacefully ended April 24, 2017 in her home surrounded by her family and friends. Melissa, age 57, was the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Travis E. Morgan of Knoxville. Melissa was a member of the graduating class of 1977 from The Webb School of Knoxville and The University of Tennessee's class of 1981. During her time at UT, she was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. Upon entering the business world, Melissa was an asset to many different corporations with her work in marketing and business development. She was recognized nationally on a number of occasions for her business acumen and innovation. Melissa lived an accomplished life as a mother, daughter, wife, friend, and businesswoman. Her special passion was fishing the waters of Pawleys Island, South Carolina. She was a member of The Episcopal Church of the Ascension. Her life and courageous battle with cancer are an inspiration to her many friends around the world.
Melissa was preceded in death by her parents, Travis E. Morgan, MD and Mrs. Margaret W. Morgan; brother, Matthew W. Morgan. She is survived by her husband Ralph K. (Rusty) Hutcheson, II.; son, Ralph K. (Kit) Hutcheson, III and fiancee Emily R. Earles; son, Morgan C. Hutcheson; daughter, Margaret K. (Katy) Hutcheson; brother, Travis E. (Chip) Morgan, Jr. Also survived by sister-in-law, Patty Morgan; nephew, Ty S. Morgan, and numerous other beloved family members. Melissa and her family also cherish a special bond with long-time family friend Lucille Mapp. Rusty and the family would like to thank all of the special friends and caregivers who provided so much love and support to them during Melissa's illness.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date and the family will host a celebration of Melissa's life at their home on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Town of Pawleys Island Beautification Foundation, 321 Myrtle Ave, Pawleys Island, SC 29585 or The Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 800 S. Northshore Dr., Knoxville, TN 37919. Online condolences may be sent to www.rosemortuary.com. Arrangements provided by Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.

Melissa, Kelly and I were the best of friends growing up. We all lived near each other. Unfortunately after high school we lost touch. My heart breaks for her family. I have know doubt she was a wonderful wife and mother, as she was a wonderful friend.
My heart also is broken that we didn't stay in touch.

Melisa was such a fuñ cousin to Collin and Jaison Smith, Robert and eslie Osborne sharing visits to the family home and lake house for a number of years. She was always smart and fun to be around.
