MICHAEL McCONKEY Obituary

McCONKEY, MICHAEL REECE - age 61, of Madisonville, passed away Monday, January 5, 2015, at Blount Memorial Hospital. Mike was born in Athens, Tennessee, to Alfred and Mary McConkey on January 1, 1954. He graduated from Oak Ridge High School and was always a wildcat fan. Mike was a jack-of-all trades and would always drop anything to help his family and friends. Other than being a family man, you could always find him on his Harley, a true passion of Mike's. Family and friends will miss his laughter, jokes, and playful spirit. Preceded in death by his loving parents; sisters, Lori and Janice; step daughter, Lauren Kitchen; nephew, Ethen. Mike is survived by his wife of 10 years, Maria McConkey; daughter, Jenna McConkey; step son, William Kitchen; sisters, Jeanne Smith (Weyman), Karen McConkey, all of Tennessee; brother, Gary McConkey (Becky) of North Carolina. Memorial service 7:00 p.m. Friday, Biereley-Hale Chapel, Minister Steve Best officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made in Mike's name to your favorite charity. Family will receive friends 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Madisonville.

I have known Mike for years and this iis a great loss. To the family you have my deepest condolence. May God wrap his arms around you when you feel overwhelmed with the grief of missing Mike.
He was such a great person.
