Micheal Hyatt Obituary

HYATT, MICHEAL D. "MICKEY" - age 69, of Athens formerly of Sweetwater, was born on March 6, 1939, departed this life on Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at U.T. Medical Center. He was of the Baptist faith. Mickey loved life and kept busy with sports and Boy Scouts during his youth. He was very proud of having earned the first Eagle Scout in Monroe County and later served as Scout leader and served his country in the National Guard for many years. Preceded in death by parents: Floyd Hyatt and Alyne Bellamy; brother Louis Bellamy; grandmother Valley Lawson; father in law J.H. Whited; brother and sister in law Calvin V. and Patsy Whited. Mickey graduated from Sweetwater High School. He attended Hiwassee College and received his B.S. degree in Business from Covenant College. Survived by wife of 33 years Vera Whited Hyatt; son and daughter in law Eric Hyatt and Jennifer of Alcoa, Duke Hyatt and wife Rhonda of Niota; and daughter and son in law Jeannie Moses and Wayne of Sweetwater; sisters Judy Wicker and husband Everett of Sweetwater, and Mary Nolan Montooth of Sweetwater; two grandchildren Chad and Alex; mother in law Thelma Whited of Sweetwater; sisters in law Ada Bellamy, Helen Robbins and Vivian L. Grissinger and husband Charles of Springfield, VA; brothers in law: James V. Whited and wife Faye, and Ralph Whited of Sweetwater; many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends associated with his many hobbies. The body is at Kyker Funeral Home, Sweetwater, where the family will receive friends on Friday January 9, 2009 from 5:30P.M. until 8:00P.M. with the funeral service to follow at 8:00P.M. in Kyker's Chapel with Rev. Keith Whited and Rev. Ron Allen officiating. Interment 2:00P.M. Saturday in the Sweetwater Valley Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. www.kykerfuneralhome.com
