Robert M. Shipley, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 6:45pm after a long battle with cancer. He was a member of First Baptist Church Dandridge.

Robert (Bob) was 79 years old, and is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Shipley. She was his best friend and the caring love of his life. He loved her dearly with all his heart. Bob is also survived by his son, Steve Shipley; daughter, Vicky Bogart; grandson, Bryce Bogart; brother, John Shipley; sister-in-law, Terry Shipley; uncle, Jimmy Faddis and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, and served at McGregor Range installing the Atlas missile system in Roswell, New Mexico. Bob was a fireman for the city of Knoxville for eight years, then a machinist for the Southern Railway for 20 years.

A memorial service will be held at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 East Governor John Sevier Highway, in Knoxville, on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 11:30am, with David E. Crutchley officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to First Baptist Church Dandridge, P.O. So sorry to hear of Bobby's passing. Our prayers are with the family at this time. Bobby and I went all the way through school from Oakwood to Fulton High. Sorry we could not make his funeral but know that our thoughts are with the family.
