Ryan Phillip Hurst Carter of Dandridge, TN went home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 20, 2017. He was 27 years old.

He is survived by his wife, Megan Hurst Carter; parents, Eddie and Vicki Carter; brothers, Tommy Carter and his wife, Noelle, and Bryce J Carter and his wife, Bailee; nephew, Brayden; niece, Henley; grandparents, Thomas and Jean Carter, and Patricia Glover; in-laws, Mark and Jeannie Hurst; sister-in-law, Laura Hurst and Casey; aunts, Kay Traughber and her husband, Paul, Jodi Venier and her husband, Dave; uncle, Gary Glover and his wife, Debbie; cousins, Brian and wife, Lauren, Kristen, Morgan, and Braxton; and his puppy, Tucker Dale Jr.

He was preceded in death by his Grandfather, Jack Glover.

Ryan was born to Eddie and Vicki on May 23, 1990. He graduated with his Bachelor's from Carson-Newman University in 2012 and received his Master's of Divinity from McAfee School of Theology in 2015. He wed the love of his life, Megan, on June 1, 2013. He loved to serve the Lord and those around him.

When I think of Ryan I think of a young man who loved God and loved people...he loved people! He got down, face to face where they lived. What a pleasure to have spent those 2 weeks in Senegal with him and Vicki.

I will never forget Ryan's heart for all people. He was the word of God and the love of people in action. In Senegal, we witnessed how he could connect to everyone effortlessly with a genuine love and compassion that was an example to all...love God, love people. Ryan did and still does.

My husband and I were saddened to hear of Ryan's sudden death. Ryan and Megan were faithful members at Peachtree Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA. He was a solider in the Lord. In life, we never know when God will call us home. Ryan had a God given smile, he was living as God desired him to live and how we all should be living, he served God each day as if it was his last day on earth and most of all, Ryan loved his wife! My husband and I will keep the Carter family in our prayers and that God will embrace Megan with his wings of strength in this time of bereavement.

I don't know how many times I have personally dealt with loved ones passing suddenly. I've lit too many candles over the years. I'm sadly acquainted with grief and I know your heart is hurting Megan. I met with Ryan at Smaritan house. He was very nice to my son. My son just lost his dad at that time. He was a good role model and good friend to my son when we were in the US. Rest in peace! You will be missed.

Everyone loved Ryan at McAfee. He was an all-around good guy. I remember when he took on the challenge to speak at a Black History Month function at the school. As always, he spoke well and with great conviction. He made me proud that day to be his classmate. He was always very friendly, and inclusive. We will miss him.
