Theron C. Murrell

Theron C. "Bootie" Murrell, 82, of the Boyds Creek community passed away March 22, 2021. He was known as Bootie to most, a name given to him by his big sister when he was a baby. He was a long time member of Southside Baptist Church where he served faithfully. He was a member of the Air National Guard and worked for KUB where he retired after almost 37 years of service.

He was a 1957 graduate of Sevier County High School and his first and favorite car was a red '57 Chevy that he bought his senior year. He loved coaching little league baseball at Bower Field and he loved fishing with his kids and grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents Otha C. and Maggie Elizabeth Murrell, brother and sister-in-law Herbert and Erma Murrell and infant daughter Kimberly Elise.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Joan; daughters, Leslie Huntley and Leah McWhorter; son Eric Murrell (Amy). Beloved grandchildren, Jessica Unger (Alex), Nathan Murrell (fiancé Claire), Zachary Huntley, Jarrod Huntley (Katie), Jordan Huntley (fiancé Matt), William and Maggie McWhorter. Great-grandchild Braxton Flynt. Sister Juanita Murrell. Special nieces Jama Hare, Maria Parkurst, Patci Morris, Debbie Brown, Libby Nickle, Cherise Reagan. Special nephew Mitchell Runyan. Brother and sister-in-law Bob and Ruth Runyan, Tom Runyan and Jeni.

The family thanks the Seymour Volunteer FD for all of the help it provided over the years in assistance. Also a special thank you to Rebecca Arwood for her many years of love and care and to Hospice nurse Carissa.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 pm Friday, March 26, 2021 at Atchley Funeral Home in Seymour. Funeral services will follow at 2 pm with Pastors Clarence Gresham and Luke Wilkerson officiating. The interment will follow at Holly Hills Memorial Park (Berry Highland South)

Serving as Pallbearers Nathan Murrell, William McWhorter, Jesse McWhorter, Zachary Huntley, Jeremiah Morris, and Edward Ingle. Charlie Price will serve as an Honorary Pallbearer.
