Vera Mae Cooper Williams

WILLIAMS, VERA MAE COOPER - age 57 formerly of Etowah, Tn. died Sunday July 20, 2008 at her residence 3923 Oakland Drive in Knoxville, TN. She was baptized and raised at Harwell Chapel A.M.E. Church in Etowah, Tn., and became a member of Eternal Life Harvest Center in Knoxville, Tn., where she served on the usher board. She retired from Levi Strauss Company. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank J. and Catherine Williams; son, Zachary Leon Williams; sister, Barbara Williams; brother, Tommy Lee Williams; and husband, Bill Cooper. She is survived by devoted husband, John Edward Williams; brothers, Frankie (Jody) Williams and Michael (Denise) Williams both of Etowah, Tn.; sisters, Betty (French) Jarrett of Etowah, Mary (William) Ferguson of Nashville, Tn., Gloria Williams of Atlanta, Ga., Virginia Jackson and Gwendolyn Williams both of Etowah, Tn.; a devoted niece and caretaker, Darlene Jarrett, and devoted friend Joe Godfrey; a host of step children including Kisha Clark, Travis and Frank Williams; a host of grandchildren including Shannon Williams; sisters-in-law, Sherly Rooker, Emma Imes, Mary King, Gloria Williams, Lucile Murphy; brothers-in-law, Mack Williams, Frank Murphy; a host of devoted and close relatives and friends including Rev. Sandie Peters, Ruth Ann Rosario, and Susie Bruner. Funeral services will be Wednesday July 23, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home, 502 Congress Parkway Athens, Tn., with Pastor Anthony Wynn officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service from 3:00 -4:00 p.m. Internment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Etowah, Tn.
