William E. Black, Jr., age 86, of Farragut, passed away October 6, 2016, in Knoxville. Bill was a member of Hardin Valley Church of Christ and former member of Farragut Church of Christ. He was a loving and devoted husband and father. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Medical Corps and a graduate of the University of Alabama. Bill retired from TVA after 28 years.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Nita Black; and parents, William E. Black, Sr and Mabel Lee Black. Bill is survived by his son, Ernie Black and wife Karen; granddaughter, Karie Campbell; great-granddaughters, Mekaila, Kaimen and Naome Charsha; sister-in-law, Frankie Wyers; brother-in-law, Jerry C. White and wife, Jewell; sister-in-law, Edith White; several nieces and nephews; as well as his Hardin Valley Church of Christ family, and his friends at Ft. Sanders Cardiac Rehab.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a memorial service to immediately follow on Saturday, October 8th at Hardin Valley Church of Christ, 11515 Hardin Valley Road, Knoxville, TN 37932. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hardin Valley Church of Christ Building Fund or American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.

Sorry to hear of Bill's passing. I worked with him at TVA and he was always willing to advise me on work related and personal issues both as a mentor and friend.

Ernie, I was saddened to find that Bill had passed on so quickly after speaking with you earlier. I always thought of Bill as a good friend and colleague. He was a good man who will be missed by his many friends.
