William Cochrane Obituary

William A. Cochrane, Jr., passed away peacefully at his home in Knoxville, TN on August 13, 2015.
A devout Episcopalian and devoted son, husband and father, he is preceded in death by his parents, William Sr. and Raven, and his brother the Right Reverend Robert H. Cochrane. He is survived by his sister Elizabeth Reavis and her family; his loving wife of 58 years, Elaine; sons, William, John, James, Philip; daughters-in-law Lisa, Lorraine, Cheryl; and 7 grandchildren. William was also beloved by many nieces and nephews on both sides of our family. William was a proud son of Brooklyn New York. His lifelong love of aviation led him to enlist in the Air Force in 1948. He served during the Korean War and was employed at Trans World Airlines for 26 years. In the early years he repaired the fabric control surfaces on airplane wings; He retired from TWA as a maintenance instructor specializing in aircraft electrical systems.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2:00 p.m., at The Church of the Good Samaritan, 425 N. Cedar Bluff Rd., Knoxville, TN 37923. Interment will follow in the church's memorial garden. The family will welcome friends at a reception following the service. Bill, with his New York accent, and me with my hillbilly twang, enjoyed visiting every Sunday over coffee and doughnuts after church. He always shared wonderful stories of his days in aircraft maintenance. I share sorely miss his warm smile. Good Samaritan lost a good man. Deepest sympathies to his family....Sam Venable
