William Mullins Obituary

MULLINS, WILLIAM EDWARD "PETE" - age 78, of Knoxville, born March 19, 1933, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Parkwest Medical Center. Pete was of the Baptist faith, accepting Christ at an early age. He was a member of Victory Chapel Baptist Church. Pete was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the Naval Reserves. He worked for the United States Postal Service in the position of Manager at several postal stations in the Knoxville area, retiring as Postmaster of Sweetwater, Tennessee, for a total of thirty years service. During his life, his passions were boating, golfing, woodworking, and spending time with his dogs, Sugar and Cocoa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Mary Cawthon Mullins. He is survived by his wife, Betty Sue Mullins; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Linda Mullins of Cleveland; stepchildren and spouses, Yhona (Roger) Jones of Greeneville, Terry (Bob) Stewart of Maryville, Beth (Robert) Stewart of Knoxville, Jeff (Tonya) Brantley of Sharps Chapel, Ricky (Krista) Brantley of Knoxville; granddaughters and spouses, Amy (Shane) Eubanks and Leslie (Josh) Cross of Cleveland; step-grandchildren, Julia Jones-Barham (Michael) of Knoxville, Catherine Stewart of Maryville, Taylor and Tori Stewart of Knoxville, Kara and Will Brantley of Knoxville, Erick Brantley of Cherry Point, North Carolina, Hannah Patterson of Clinton, Chase (Jean) Brantley of Clinton, Kenneth (Kristen) Brantley of Parker, Colorado, great grandchildren, Chandler and Anniston Cross and Caroline Eubanks of Cleveland; step great-grandchild, Jack Patterson of Clinton; brother and wife, Don and Joyce Mullins of Huntsville, Alabama; sister and husband, Judy and Larry Galbraith of Columbus, Georgia; several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the nurses and staff on the 4th floor of Parkwest Medical Center (especially Valerie and Susan), Hospice nurses Candace and Sarah, and Dr. Daniel Ibach for the wonderful care they administered. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel with the service following at 7:00 p.m., Rev. Kern Spangler and Rev. Louis Roberts will officiate. The family and friends will meet at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel at 10:00 a.m. Friday to go in procession to Highland West Memorial Gardens for 11:00 a.m. interment. Pallbearers: Jeff Brantley, Ricky Brantley, Roger Jones, Bob Stewart, Robert Stewart, Taylor Stewart, and Scott Reynolds. Honorary pallbearers: Erick Brantley, Chase Brantley, Lawrence Jordan, Pete Graves, Ronnie Roberts, Lynn Cherry, and Terry Wallace. Online condolences may be made at www.rosemortuary.com.
