HOWE - Carl E. Bowers, 80, of Howe, died, unexpectedly from natural causes, on Thursday, April 22, 2021, at his residence.
He was born on July 6, 1940, in Fort Wayne to Arthur D. and Laura D. (Bunger) Bowers.
Carl worked for the Dometic Corporation in LaGrange for 38 years. He enjoyed traveling to Florida and Texas over the years. He was an outdoorsman who loved to fish and he had a big heart for anyone who needed help. He was known to drop whatever he was doing to come and assist a family member or friend.
On April 6, 2001, he married Jeanette K. Beuchel in LaGrange. She survives him in Howe.
Also surviving Carl are his two stepdaughters, Kathy (Amos) Caudill of Kendallville and Michelle (Don Russell) Smallwood of Howe; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Linda Platt and Sharon Mowery both of Columbia City and a brother, John (Cindy) Bowers of Orland.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, a stepson; Gene Bowers, who died, December 17, 2020; four sisters; Marie Hunter, Debbie Bowers, Delores Roberts and Nora Graff; and three brothers, Eugene Bowers, Arthur Bowers and Cliff Bowers.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2021, at the Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 West Michigan St., LaGrange with the Pastor Joe Wilson officiating.
Burial will take place after the services at Brighton Cemetery, Howe.
A visitation will be held at the funeral home before the service from 1 p.m. until service time.
The family would like to thank all the first responders from the Orland, Howe and Mongo Fire Departments and the LaGrange County Sheriff's Department for all their efforts toward Carl.
