AVILLA — Corbett Lynn Ashley, 92 of Avilla and formerly of Portland, died Friday morning, October 14, 2016 at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville. He was born, October 16, 1923 in Little Salamonia, Indiana, and was the son of late Paul & Clara Jane (Caster) Ashley.
Corbett was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Corbett retired from Jay County Hospital after 36 years of dedicated service in the maintenance department. He was an avid fisherman and loved to watch the Cub's play baseball.
Corbett is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Margaret E. Ashley of Avilla; two sons, Danny and Andy Ashley, both of Portland; a daughter, Roxanne Payne (Eddie) of Kendallville; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson Joshua Inman; four brothers, Charles, Robert, Paul, and James Ashley; and three sisters, Betty VanTrees, Grace Moses, and Margaret Shauver.
Funeral Services for Corbett will be held Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 1 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North S.R. 3, Muncie, with Rev. Thomas Novy officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
